Downtown Trolley Service
|
During the week the
trolley is a principal form of transportation for the downtown
lunch crowd, ferrying business people through the noontime
hurry, from centers of government and finance to eateries from
Old Town to Seneca Street in the River West area.
On Saturdays, the trolleys run from the Farm & Art Market in Old
Town to the Museum District with stops at Cowtown, Botanica, the

Tags and Registration
|
Vehicle
registration and inspection are required within 30 days
of establishing residency, unless tags expire earlier.
The fee is $10.00, cash preferred. In order to expedite
the process, here’s some information you may need to
know: If you have the title, you need to bring in the
title, the vehicle and the proof of insurance. The
person who is named on the title is the only one who can
register the vehicle. If two names are on the title,
i.e., Jane and/or John Smith only one person has to come
in. If it is Jane and John Smith, Jane/John Smith or
Jane John Smith both parties need to come in. The Kansas
Highway Patrol inspects the vehicle prior to
registration.
If you do not have your title because the
lienholder or the state keeps it until the vehicle is
paid for, you will need to call them and have them fax a
copy of the title to the downtown office at (316)
262-4761.
Sometimes the state you're coming from will request
something in writing before releasing a copy of the
title. In that case please call (316) 660-9110 and
request the letter. Please have your payment book
available as you will need the information on the
vehicle including the VIN number.
Wichita’s main office of the Sedgwick County Auto
License Department is downtown at 200 W. Murdock. Hours
are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Vehicle
inspections are available only at this downtown location
between the hours of 8:30 am and 4 pm.

Bicycles
 |
Before
operating a bicycle in Wichita, cyclists must obtain a
license and display it on the bicycle. It is legal to
ride on the sidewalk excluding the central business
district. Pedestrians always have the right of way.
Bicycle license's can be purchased from almost
any of the major bicycle shops around Wichita. When you
purchase a bike, they will offer to register the serial
number and sell you a license. You should be able to
register any bike and purchase the license from these
shops. The department stores should also offer a
license. The fee for a license is $7.50. If you take
your bike in at a later time, you will need a safety
inspection at the time you register.
